Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in Northern Mindanao - Skandal na sad?

Published on October 21st, 2008 by: Lito in: Cagayan de Oro City, Event

LOCAL traders will be closing shop Tuesday to dramatize their protest against the regional director of Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in Northern Mindanao.

Hundreds of traders from across the business spectrum - from small-scale business to large-scale industry - will take part in the one-day business shutdown, said lawyer Oscar Musni, spokesperson of the Coalition of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Associations of Northern Mindanao.

Gasoline station dealers, restaurants, hotels, locally-based malls, groceries and retail chains are among those who signified to close shop, Musni said.

The owners of these commercial establishments, he said, are members of the Misamis Oriental Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MOFCCCI), Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc (Oro Chamber), Cagayan de Oro Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce (COFCC), Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Industries (CCI) and the Cagayan de Oro Hotel and Restaurant Association (COHARA).

Efren Uy, MOFCCCI president, said the total number of businesses joining the one-day shutdown cannot immediately be determine because even non-members have also expressed interest to voluntarily close shop.

Oro Chamber alone has over 300 members consisting mostly of micro, small and medium enterprises. An Oro Chamber staff, who declined to be named, said they have the commitments of all their members to join Tuesday’s protest action.

“Even small-time traders in the markets will join, because all businessmen are affected on this issue,” Uy told Sun.Star Superbalita.

Gandarosa had earlier said he would not yield to the traders’ demand, insisting that BIR personnel under him are “honest government workers.”

Under the table ang paagi.

Gusto sa mga Negosyante dinhi sa Cagayan de Oro nga ipalagpot si BIR-Northern Mindanao Regional Director Mustapha Gandarosa, Cagayan de Oro Revenue District Officer Ester Palala and a certain Madoding Ismael, reportedly a chief of a tax collection taskforce at the regional BIR office.

Proud pa naman unta ko nga Cagay-anon!

1st Float Competition sa Cagayan de Oro City Fiesta

Published on August 30th, 2007 by: Lito in: Cagayan de Oro City, Event

Hello Cagayan de Oro, Hello mga Bisaya, Hello world!

Published on August 27th, 2007 by: Lito in: Cagayan de Oro City, Event

Ngano mingaw man ang syudad?
